CANADA POST RELEASES AN ABRAHAM SHADD STAMP

Joyce Middleton, Buxton Historical Society President, will represent the Buxton Museum at the Canada Post unveiling of two commemorative stamps in Vancouver, B.C..  The program entitled, "The Courage to Make a Difference", will be hosted by the National Congress of Black Women Foundation on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009.

Mrs. Middleton created a presentation of Abraham Doras Shadd to provide this assembly, in her official capacity as BHS President and on behalf of the Shadd family, as his great-great- granddaughter. The Buxton Historical Society is proud to have Joyce represent us on this auspicious occasion.
