Roots to Wings

HERITAGE CAMP 2009

August 3-7: ROOTS TO WINGS (heritage camp), 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Children between the ages of 4-12 will again have the opportunity to experience fun filled days of learning (while piloting yet another new educational package)! This year our Camp Leaders are: Caress Lee, Krista MacNaughton, and Art Thompson. They have developed an exciting program which incorporates lessons from the museums educational kits. Spaces are limited don't wait too long to register your children!

Many THANKS to our supporters and friends from Union Gas and the community of North Buxton for all your assistance at the work bee held at the museum on July 18!  The volunteers arrived at 8:30 a.m. and worked beautify the museum grounds until 3 p.m., with a short break for lunch... A hearty thanks to Bryan Prince, Jerry Prince, and Tim Robbins for bringing out the tractors! Appreciation to Mark Walker for his skills behind a barbeque.

The Buxton Historical Society was approved for an MTCU Grant to restore the A. D. Shadd Barn (relocated onto the museum grounds in 2007).  Work began on April 13th and is now complete along with a sawmill and forge!  Hats off to the talents of David Middleton, James Dudley, Paul Demers, Tom Heikamp, Jason Waddick, and Andy Stockdill for a job WELL DONE!

The Buxton Historical Society (and Homecoming partners) have been approved for Festivals & Events Community Partnership Grants to assist with Homecoming 2009! See you at Homecoming!
